15 minutes by car from the town centre of Chiang Mai is Green Valley Country Club, a championship 18-hole golf course, part of the Green Valley Group of country clubs in Thailand. The appearance of the fairways, lined with palm trees, seems wide, but golfers must be careful in that traps like water hazards and bunkers are plentiful and carefully sited by the course designer, thus making the fairways narrow and leaving no room for the wayward shots. Within and around the golf course, there are also land allocated for housing estate providing a serene view of the lake. The total area covers 1,300 rais.
